Club member Andy Peacock will join us to share his experiences on climbing Mount Everest as doctor and physiologist to the 40th Anniversary British Expedition to Everest in 1993.
Andrew’s distinguished medical career in respiratory medicine focused on the effects of hypoxia (low levels of Oxygen). His research allowed him to combine his love of climbing with physiological research at extreme altitude. The talk will explore the history of climbing at extreme altitude on Mount Everest from the earliest British expeditions through to his experiences on the expedition which aimed, amongst other objectives, to get Rebecca Stephens as the first British woman to the top of Everest.
The bar will be open from 6pm and the talk will begin at 6:30pm, followed by supper.
