Aldeburgh Yacht Club
Parental responsibility:
Sailing – The organisers are responsible for providing a safe racing environment on the water, but sailors do sometimes come ashore earlier than expected. So, during the time your dependent/s are afloat you are encouraged to remain at the Club or ensure someone can act in loco parentis during your absence to ensure your child can be looked after ashore.
Please also make yourself familiar with the Sailing Instructions here.
Socials - AYC's responsibility during social events for your children does not go beyond the immediate premises of the club, so we encourage you to talk about safety getting to and from the club. Please do think about arrangements for your children getting home after each event as the track to the Club can be dark and often full of cars. You are encouraged to pick children up and for anyone on bicycles to have lights. It is not advisable for the children to be on the beach at night, but please talk to them about the safety if they are. Finally, AYC adhere to a strict policy of no underage drinking on the premises and reserve the right to request parents collect any underage child found to be under the influence of alcohol.
