LOCH LONG 6   "SCIROCCO"

Scirocco was built in 1937 by J Colquhoun of Dunoon and is one of the original 6 boats launched and raced on 12th May 1937 to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI. She is constructed from Oregon Pine, carvel built on elm frames and is in good condition having been substantially rebuilt in 2010 by the Peter Wilson boatyard in Aldeburgh, including being epoxied inside and out. Rig; Fractional Bermudan sloop rig, spruce mast. Halyards in good condition. Sails in good condition. She has the distinction of being the only Loch Long which has been holed by a torpedo which occurred July 3rd 1957 when the Royal Navy were indulging in torpedo practice while the LL fleet were racing. One of the torpedoes zig zagged across the Loch and holed Scirocco which was towed back to shore in a sinking condition. The

RN Repaired her and provided a brass plaque to commemorate her exploits,

which is still fixed to the boat.

Made by Far East Boats in 2013. Very good overall condition.

2 sails - one brand new, never used, the other in good condition.
Spars with spar bag.
Foils in padded bag. 2 scratches on the daggerboard, but above waterline so don't affect performance.
