Aldeburgh Yacht Club
AYC Cruisers
The club has an active cruiser programme which offers a mix of short and longer trips.
In a typical season, we plan to offer the following:
A weekend cruise – short enough to allow working sailors to leave and return within a weekend but still enjoy one night away with the fleet – typical destinations are Southwold, The Deben or Walton.
A longer cruise to another cruising ground – several days in the Medway, Blackwater or similar.
An overseas trip, usually to Ostend.
A couple of race weekends to the Deben and the Orwell with a fleet supper and an overnight stay. Racing is not compulsory and a wide range of support boats use the event as a cruise in company.
The emphasis is on joining in and having fun. Any craft is welcome and the fleet comprises up to 20 traditional yachts, motor cruisers, larger day boats and ribs. Visits will be organised to enable a fleet supper either in another clubhouse, pub or restaurant with the occasional night at anchor in longer trips. The shorter trips represent very good starter cruises for newcomers with a step up to more distant venues for the more confident.
